Online DBS service Accessibility statement
This accessibility statement applies to https://demogirlguiding.disclosures.co.uk
We have developed this website to ensure that it is usable by everybody, regardless of age or disability.
This website is run by Atlantic Data Ltd (ADL). We have built our website to be accessible with common assistive technologies and different ways of using websites. This means that you can:
- Navigate the menus and all interactive functionality without a mouse and using assistive technology such as a screen reader and this has been tested with popular screen readers such as Jaws and NVDA.
- Change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings.
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen.
- Navigate a page using headings throughout our written content. We also use plain English principles to make our content clear and easy to understand.
- Consume media content with captions or transcripts for videos and audio content.
- Navigate our websites with assistive technology via WAI-ARIA.
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Compliance Status
The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard; we have also applied some parts of level AAA success criteria.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
We are currently not fully compliant with WCAG 2.1 guidelines due to some areas needing improvement. These include issues with keyboard navigation for button activation, our navigation using the tabindex attribute, lack of accessible landmarks in dynamic content, and noncompliant downloadable documents and PDFs. We are actively working to address these issues to enhance accessibility across our platform.
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
- There are some button within our system which doesn’t get activates automatically when it receives focus on tab feature. (Success Criterion 2.4.7 Focus Visible)
- Some elements within our website contains tabindex attribute and this has been used throughout our website for the navigational purpose to take the user to the relevant sections directly and we are working on to remove as this is depreciated and not compliant with WCAG
- Some parts of the text on the website do not match the contrast ratio recommended by W3C guidelines. We are compliant to WCAG AA standards, and we are trying to extend for AAA standards. (Success Criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum))
- Some dynamic elements on the website where Landmarks are not generated with the dynamic content, the content is loaded based on different client and user configurations. We are in the process of working on the architecture to support Landmarks on each dynamic element on the page. (Success Criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships)
- Downloadable documents and PDFs may not be fully accessible. We are working to ensure those still in use are available in an accessible format and are moving away from using PDF format for future documents.
